One Million Dollars!

Well, we honestly can't believe it! One million dollars! That's a big deal for us. It's our biggest campaign ever (that wasn't in partnership with Brandon Sanderson) and more importantly, it's a testament to the continuing appeal of Boss Monster, our first game and the one that made Brotherwise what it is today.

Thanks to all of you backers for helping us achieve this. It means so much to us, and it means so much for the brand. This Kickstarter ensures that Super Boss Monster will see more expansions, more content, and more fun for years to come. 

Yesterday we teased the return of Kirax, our most powerful boss and our most requested reprint by far. We've brought her back with a few updates, including an amazing new look rendered in draconic gold by pixel artist Daniel Oliver Ortiz. Today we realized that we could do more to show off that gorgeous art, so in celebration of this amazing milestone, we're going to put a regular version of Kirax in every Kickstarter Pack AND a holofoil version. You'll have one to play with and one to proudly display as a memento of this campaign.

When we started this campaign, we had no inkling that we'd unlock all our planned stretch goals just 8 days into the Kickstarter. The team scrambled to make more, and you've bested us once again. Kirax will be our final stretch goal of the campaign, but we're excited to have her baleful red gaze guide us to the finish. We've unlocked SO much that we didn't expect to, and we're thrilled at how much better this game will be because of it.

And lest you think your card-acquiring days are over, never fear. In the pledge manager you'll have a chance to get the Reprints Pack, a collection of some of our best and hardest to find cards, with enhanced art, Super Boss Monster card frames, and updated abilities. It's an army of Boss Monster cards back from the dead, and they're yours to command!

This campaign has inspired our design team to get right back to work on new Boss Monster expansions. The bigger this campaign gets, the more we'll be paving the way for more Boss Monster in the future.

Big Box Pack & Final Stretch Goals

Happy Monday, Boss Monsters! We're heading into the final days of the campaign, and we're looking to finish strong! Today we'll provide an exciting update on stretch goals and share more details about the exclusive pack of cards inside every Big Box. Let's get into it!

The Final Stretch

Today we unlocked the Bonus Pack stretch goal! Since day one, we've heard from past backers who hoped to see connections between this campaign and other Boss Monster spin-off titles. It's also a sentimental favorite for us because the success of Boss Monster was the foundation for our entire library of Brotherwise Games! The Bonus Pack includes:

• Porkusdoom - a new Boss for our tile-laying game, Overboss Duel
• Boss - a new Career card for our upcoming worker placement game, Adulthood
• Super! - a new Spell card for our upcoming racing game, Dungeon Kart

All of these games will be available in our BackerKit pledge manager when the campaign ends. But even if you don't play the games, you can enjoy owning these cards as a fun piece of Boss Monster history!

We also just revealed our last stretch goal of the campaign. Last week we told you that our original plan for this campaign was 18 stretch goals: one "social" stretch goal and one for each day of the campaign. Since then, we've hustled to identify new stretch goals that we could add without slowing down our production timeline. You've now unlocked a total of 25 stretch goals, and today we have one more to show off!

We thought this last stretch goal would be the perfect time to reference our very first Boss Monster campaign ...a true "Final Boss!" Kirax was the last boss we unlocked in the original Boss Monster Kickstarter campaign, and we've never brought her back because she was so powerful. Now, to thank you for all the amazing support, we're presenting an updated version of Kirax with 1 million XP.

This campaign has completely exceeded our expectations, and we are extremely thankful for everybody who has joined this campaign! It means a lot to us that Boss Monster still brings joy to the table more than 10 years later.

Big Box Pack

As we head into the final days of the campaign, one thing we haven't described in detail is the set of all-new cards that comes exclusively with the Big Box. The goal of this pack is to help tie Super Boss Monster to some of the original Boss Monster expansions. We want to make sure that however you combine your Boss Monster sets, you'll have a Super experience. (And it's a great reminder that Super Boss Monster is completely compatible with every Boss Monster expansion!)

To help you play Super Boss Monster with Tools of Hero-Kind or Implements of Destruction, the Big Box includes 4 Item cards that interact with +1 counters and the Town board.

To tie into the coin mechanics of Rise of the Minibosses, this card set will include 4 Rooms and 2 Spells that interact with coins, along with the 4 Minibosses we've already revealed.

Finally, to make Super Boss Monster even more fun with the 5-6 player mode introduced in Crash Landing, the Big Box includes 2 Heroes, 2 Bosses, and 4 Rooms, plus another 1 Miniboss and 1 Item, which all use the "Explorer" (raygun) treasure type.

A Basket Full of Stretch Goals

Hello, Boss Monsters! Today at Brotherwise we're taking a break to celebrate Easter with our families, but we wanted to send a quick update to thank everyone for an awesome weekend! 

Normally, weekends are the quietest days for a Kickstarter campaign, and holiday weekends are even slower. (Our theory is that weekdays are better funding days because folks browse Kickstarter when they're bored at work, wishing they could be playing games instead...)

But this weekend, our campaign has been hopping! Yesterday was our third-highest funding day yet, and we spent the day asking each other, "what's going on?" We're still not entirely sure why we saw such a spike in pledges, but we're very grateful! 

Leaping Ahead

We kicked off the weekend by unlocking two thematically appropriate new cards for the Kickstarter Pack! Feaster, Ravenous Rabbit is a deadly Boss that will use his Level Up power to permanently add a -2 heart token to the last room in an opponent's dungeon. Easter Egg is a "tutor" spell that lets you search the spell deck for exactly what you need!

We were hoping that one would get unlocked by Easter, but instead, you made short work of that stretch goal! So we moved on to a request that we heard from lots of folks: upgrading the "extension board" in the Big Box to neoprene! While 5-6 player mode is an optional part of the Boss Monster experience (unlocked with the Crash Landing mini-expansion), it's nice to know you'll be able to do it in style!

And today we found another egg in our basket of stretch goals! You all unlocked this one so fast that the poll is still open. We'll give one classic Mage boss the Super treatment, but who's it gonna be? As we write this, sultry sorceress Seducia is in the lead, but the enigmatic Oculus is only a few votes behind. Cast your vote at BoardGameGeek! 

That means it's time to introduce another stretch goal! This time, we're offering up something a bit different: never-before-seen cards for some of our other Brotherwise Games. The Bonus Pack, for every backer at the Minion pledge level and above, is a set of Brotherwise cards inspired by Super Boss Monster.

We'll send you a new Porkusdoom card for Overboss Duel, a "Boss" career card for Adulthood, and a "Super!" spell for Dungeon Kart. We think these three bonus cards are a lot of fun ...and we'd love it if they encourage folks to check out some of the other great titles from Brotherwise Games!

What is in the Kickstarter Pack?

Happy Friday, Boss Monsters! The Brotherwise team has been busy this week getting prepared for the end of this Kickstarter. With less than a week to go, we want to make sure that we can answer as many questions as possible and clarify anything that may seem confusing. 

We are going to talk about the Kickstarter Pack in today's update! We have been unlocking quite a few cards for the Kickstarter Pack, and we want to detail what is in this pack and who is getting it. Before we go into the Kickstarter Pack, let's talk about some stretch goals!

Belladonna is getting a Super upgrade!

Yesterday evening, we unlocked the Cleric Boss stretch goal. We gave you all until 11:59 PM CT to vote...and Belladonna made it through! We'll upgrade her powers to fit with Super Boss Monster and give her all new artwork. We are curious to hear if any of our backers have any ideas for her?!

We are chugging along and very close to unlocking Feaster, a new Fighter Boss (see below)! Once we hit $775k, we'll reveal our next stretch goal!

Kickstarter Pack

The Kickstarter Pack is our big thank you to all of you backers. This pack goes to any and all pledges in the campaign at or above the Minion level; so if you're getting a game from us, you'll be getting this pack as well.

The pack started out as just a few cards, but we've already grown to an impressive 12-card pack of 4 new Bosses, 4 new Spells, and 4 new heroes. Take a look:

And if that lovely pack of cards wasn't enough, we're adding more and more to it almost every day! As we said above, you just voted to add Belladonna to the pack and now we're knocking on the door of unlocking another Boss and spell! Can we unlock Feaster before his Holiday namesake passes?

Will we add yet more cards to this pack? It's mostly up to you and how well the campaign does, but we've got some great ideas and we're excited to get a chance to implement them.

Quick FAQ and some Overboss news...

One week left on this campaign...can you believe it? We keep talking about how this campaign continues to blow us away....but c'mon!

Last night we hit $700k, which is amazing. We JUST unlocked our Cleric Boss stretch goal, but we will give you all until 11:59 CT to cast your vote. We will reveal the next Boss to join the line-up in tomorrow's update! Let's take a look at the current standings...

Belladonna has taken quite the lead! But will the Vampire Baroness hold her ground over the Shadow of the Past? Or will the Pumpkin Queen and The Grave Robber make a surprise comeback?! Cast your vote here in case you haven't already! Our next stretch goal has been revealed for $775k...

Overboss Digital Releasing in May!

You heard that right! Back in late 2022, we announced that Overboss was coming to Steam soon. The project ended up getting delayed a bit, but we're thrilled to announce that Overboss Digital is finally arriving. We're currently expecting to see the game arrive on Mobile, Steam and Nintendo Switch this summer! The team over at Goblinz Publishing made a really wonderful Digital implementation of Overboss and we can't wait for you to play it. Eager to jump in? You can wishlist Overboss on Steam now!

Quick Q&A

We've been seeing some of the same questions pop up in the comments, and we want to answer a few of them here! Don't be afraid to comment on this update if you have anything else you want answered.

Q: Does the neoprene Town mat have the Solo Mode board on the other side? A: Yes! The neoprene mat for the Town board is double sided.

Q: Will I be able to change my pledge in BackerKit? A: Yes! We will send out a survey link to your Kickstarter e-mail address once the Pledge Manager goes live. If this is the first time you backed a Kickstarter, we will have a "How to use BackerKit" guide the day the survey links go out. 

Q: What exactly comes in my pledge? A: In case you're confused about your pledge, please refer to this spreadsheet with details of what is included. Once the campaign is finished and we've (truly) unlocked all stretch goals, we will update the pledges with the amount of cards in each pledge.

Q: Can we play with expansions in the Solo Mode? A: Yes - we will have a list of Spells, Items and Bosses to remove when playing solo. Rooms that effect other players messes with the treasure count too much, so we recommend just leaving them in and ignoring their effects!

Q: How many sleeve packs will I need for the Ultimate Starter Set? A: Right now we are estimating 4-5 sleeve packs to fully sleeve the Ultimate Starter Set, but we will double check and give a final number once the campaign finishes.

Q: Will the 5-6 player extension board be neoprene? A: Right now the 5-6 player extension board is cardboard, but we may unlock a neoprene mat in a stretch goal.

Q: Is the Exclusive Card Set in the Big Box going to be a separate add-on in the Pledge Manager/is the Big Box in the add-ons the same as the one on the campaign page? A: This card set is exclusive to the Big Box SKU, and yes, the Big Box in the add-ons will be the same Big Box we advertise on the campaign page.
